Hi. Here is the story: Today jaws was not reading edit boxes when arrowing with the left and right arrows. I decided a restart
would do the trick so i simple unloaded jaws (insert f4). When i pressed enter I could still hear eloquence speaking. Since it would not stop I had to
do a memory dumb (windows insert f4). Now when i try to start jaws it will start the process but the synthesizer does not come up. i reinstalled and nothing.
I also researched the net in hope to find something relating to this but nothing either. Anyone know whats the diagnosis here? Currently I am using jaws 7 since there is nothing else for now.

did you do a full jaws 8 uninstall?

I have jaws 7, 8 and open book. I uninstalled every bit of the fs architecture, that is, components, speech drivers, and everything else left. i did a reboot followed by the installs. Jaws 7 works wondefully fineƱ the issue with it is that I only have a demo of it. Jaws 8 on the other hand gets the process started and loads its components while the problem seems to occur with the speech drivers for eloquence, although I canot verify this because the closed'source, errorful environment of fs is sadly not modifiable or generates no logs whatsoever, so there is little way of assuming this as true safely. Not sure what version of eloquence jaws 8 uses although i guess I found some drivers out there for eloquence....

vary interesting. can you get jaws 9 or your system? I wonder if jaws 9 will work you and forget jfw 8 all together? i took jfw8 off this system when i got 9. as for it crashing, I have no idea about that. i'm sorry.

hmm... how well or different is jaws 9 from 8 anyway? i haven't really delved into using 9 for now and don't plan to upgrade since it is a supposed beta cycle all over, similar to how jaws 7 started to be.

alright.. got this figured out. If you don't know, both jaws 7 and 8 use eloquence version 6.1 with sapi 5. Through some exploration I found the file on the error reporting to be sapi5X.jsl. i thus compared sizes with each version and it seemed that the one jaws 8 was using was corrupted somehow. I replaced this file with the one jaws 7 uses and it works perffectly now. What seems weird is that the setup file has the wrong kind of file or something. I don't know, but it works is all I care about
